Jesus Loves Web 2.0

ebible
eBible.com is a Web 2.0 Christian Resource which does particularly well in the intergration of multiple resources to add value what you search for.

Multiple sources of bibles, expert commentaries, encyclopedias, and dictionaries, are queried when you search for a verse to add context to your search results, and you can also pick your favourite sources so they rise to the top.

As TechCrunch notes, it would be great to have a search engine that goes across religions and allows the user to find different viewpoints on key issues about life, but I can personally see the problems that would arise from sticky accusations of bias towards one angle or the other.

Nevertheless, this is one of the best Biblical resource I’ve ever seen. Signup for the beta here, and check out their blog here.

Simplify Your Web Using Pageflakes

pageflakes
Personal AJAX startpages are a dime a dozen these days, so it forces new players like Pageflakes to take it up a notch in terms of innovation… and it has. Being extremely developer friendly, it has resulted in a joint publisher-community driven creative effort that has so far produced over 70+ widgets or mini-web applications (called flakes) that can be intergrated into this free service.

Everything from integration to streaming Flickr photos, to gmail notifiers, to dictionaries to del.icio.us intergration have been created, with more on the way, meaning this RSS reader has some heavy duty features behind it.

There is of course strong RSS reader functionality so you can “stream” all your favourite websites to one location. In fact, Pageflakes has the look and feel of Netvibes, but with a cleaner interface. Other key features include the ability to share pages you have created with your family and friends without even them having to sign up.

Aside from receiving rave reviews, Pageflakes also managed to win a Web 2.0 award for “Best Start page” (beating out Google, Microsoft, and Netvibes).

If you’re not sure what RSS works, and how it can save you an immense amount of time, click here.

I should also mention that Friedbeef.com is now partly supported by Pageflakes. Do take a few seconds to try it out for free.

Use Beautiful Images To Spell and Tell Time (Flickr)

May 17th 2006 in Web 2.0 by James Yeang Please leave a comment...

One thing I love about the Flickr photo sharing service it’s open API where developers can chip in to do all sorts of interesting things with the millions of images which are uploaded online.

This one uses images of letters to spell whatever you want…

…And Clockr is a real time clock which grabs images from Flickr and displays the time, (downloadable screensaver available too)

Yeah I know it’s just an image here, but it’s realtime on the site :)

Isn’t this better than tired old overused comic sans font we see everywhere?
