Stumble Upon LogoStumbleUpon, one of my favourite extensions for Firefox was made available for Internet Explorer earlier this week, making it accessible to the bulk of internet users.

The concept of StumbleUpon is simple:

  1. You tell it if you like a webpage by rating it ‘thumbs up’ or ‘down’.
  2. It learns what you like based on how you rate your sites
  3. It helps you discover or ’stumble upon’ new webpages based on what it has learnt about you

meebo

My office just started blocking MSN messenger recently, so I’m currently using web-based Meebo as a work around. It’s simple, very functional, and of course — free!

Features which I love include:

  • Integration of MSN, Yahoo, Gtalk, ICQ, AIM services all in one — all with a single sign on for ease of use. It’s something like Trillian or Gaim… but based completely online.
  • Option to keeps logs of conversations (stored online)
  • Supports offline messaging where available on original service
  • Ability to participate in group chats

From what I’ve seen so far, Meebo seems to have a solid team behind it, and new features seem to roll out on a regular basis, so it seems to me like the perfect MSN Messenger replacement.

Check Domain Name Availability - Instantly!

Instant Domain Search

After purchasing my first ever domain name (friedbeef.com) last year, shopping around for other ‘useful’ domains quickly became a tedious process because of the time it was taking me.

A tool like Instant Domain Search — which checks for domain availability as you type, would have been a life saver at the time.

Speaking from experience, even if you don’t need one for yourself, domain names make really great (and affordable) gifts for friends who have a blog, but don’t have their own domain yet.
