DupKiller : Eliminate Duplicate Files And Free Your Hard Disk

August 24th 2006 in Freeware by James Yeang Please leave a comment... (4)

This neat little program just freed up 700 MB for me in a matter of minutes, by finding all the duplicate files in my system so I could get rid of the redundant items.

“The program will find unneeded copies of files in those locations where you even would not consider to search. There is comparison not only by name, last modification date or size. One can compare files by their contents, and what’s more, to set what percent they must match; one can search different-length files, include or exclude files by mask, etc”

Use this in conjunction with Jdisk space reporter, and you’ve got a great freeware package to scrounge up space on your hard drive!

Internet Video Charts : Find The Best Online Videos

The cool thing about Internet videos is that a lot of what you see is mainly user generated content. That, unfortunately, is why 90% of the user-generated videos are not worth the precious few minutes of your time.

Internet TV Charts cuts through the fodder by tracking online video popularity, so only the best rise to the top. The most popular videos from YouTube, Google Video, Digg, and Videoshift are summarized on this site, and it acts as a clearing house of online videos so only the best rise to the top — Which usually means, no guys dressed in drag, and lip-synching to Shakira (or so I hope).

Manager Tools Wins Podcast Awards!

The Podcast awards were just recently announced recently with Manager Tools picking up a well deserved win. Personally, I have found Manager Tools to be certainly been one of the more helpful podcasts around, and really look forward to it every week. In fact, it’s so good that the management techniques they teach have been described by some listeners as better than their MBA course!

Podcasts are audio programming you can subsribe to (I use Itunes to do it), and make a great source of free, daily updated content, perfect for my commute to work.
If you’re looking for something good to listen to, here are 5 other Podcasts which I really enjoy:

  1. Buzz OutLoud - Tech news show
  2. DiggNation - Tech news show with beer
  3. Mr Brown Show - Humorous Singaporean blogger show
  4. Slate Explainer - Q&A show answering interesting questions in the news.
  5. The Onion Radio News - Funny fake news

What do you listen to?
