IM Blocked at Work? Create Your Own Chatroom!

chatmaker

We’ve previously talked about my favourite web-based IM Meebo as a workaround to IM clients being blocked at work.  Now here’s the thing…Meebo has become so popular that it has become a victim of its own success, with many IT departments now adding this to their list of websites to block.

ChatMaker is the quick and dirty workaround which allows you to instantly create an IM chatroom.

Just…

  1. Give your chatroom a name (one as unique as possible to avoid unwanted visitors), and then a URL will be given to you.
  2. Pass that URL to your friends. When they click on the link - They’ll be taken to your chatroom. It’s as simple as that.

Everything is run in AJAX which basically means you don’t have to refresh the page.

The best part - No registration required by you, or your other friends who join the chatroom.
