Because Firefox is an open-source fully customizable web browser, there literally thousands of Firefox extensions which can be used to tweak your Internet experience any which way you like.
When the community was starting to grow, the kind folks at Mozilla put together a section for recommended extensions to help new users get the best extensions, but because the extension ecosystem has grown so large, even that section has become unwieldy.
Recognizing the fact that it’s going to be incredibly difficult to define the ‘best extensions’ because everyone is different, Mozilla has put together a tool which suggests useful extensions based on the type of person you are.
Are you a social butterfly? Hook up Firefox with extensions for easier social networking like Facebook and Twitter. If you’re a shutterbug, there are also suggestions on great photo and imaging extensions you can try. There’s even something for music lovers, news junkies, and shopaholics, and many more personality types.

Nice find James. Firefox fans should really feel happy about this. And Happy CNY to you too!
Thanks Syahid – hopefully the year of the Ox will be a good one for Friedbeef’s Tech :)
I use the following:-
1. Gmail Ad Block
2. Ad Block Plus
3. Flash Block
4. Firebug
5. NASA Theme
6. FoxyTunes
7. Downloads ALL!
I use Outlook Track-It, a great followup email reminder plugin for Outlook. I know it’s not for Firefox, but they should follow up!
CJW, Outlook Track-It is one of my favorite addons for Outlook 2007. I love flagging emails for reminders, so I know I’ll remember to reply.
Thanks for providing all these useful tips by your website.
IE has a ‘clear-type font’ extension or feature for easier reading of webpages (fonts will be bolder) when accessed by IE. Does Firefox have something similar for us seniors?
I have to say Ad Block Plus
Nice article. I use Site Advisor – – which is definitely as good, or better, than WOT (which I also use) – mainly because it checks downloads and all parts of a website in rating it. I highly recommend it.
Nice post. Recently I used MeasureIt, it is now so much helping my design work. I have started to discover some new extensions. ~ Robert
