In Foursquare, Mayorships are special titles given to people who visit that place more than anyone else. Here’s how to pick and plan your mayorship battles efficiently.

Why bother with mayorships?

Makes it easier to grab the Super Mayor badge which requires 10 simultaneous mayorships. (Trust me, you’ve got to play the game to appreciate collecting virtual badges)
Bragging rights and points (As with any gaming network)
Special mayor offers. Businesses are increasingly becoming foursquare aware, and as a result checkins and mayorships are becoming more and more incentivized in order to drive outlet loyalty (Some outlets give free coffee to mayors for example)
