Simplify Your Web Using Pageflakes

Personal AJAX startpages are a dime a dozen these days, so it forces new players like Pageflakes to take it up a notch in terms of innovation… and it has. Being extremely developer friendly, it has resulted in a joint publisher-community driven creative effort that has so far produced over 70+ widgets or mini-web applications (called flakes) that can be intergrated into this free service.

Everything from integration to streaming Flickr photos, to gmail notifiers, to dictionaries to del.icio.us intergration have been created, with more on the way, meaning this RSS reader has some heavy duty features behind it.

There is of course strong RSS reader functionality so you can “stream” all your favourite websites to one location. In fact, Pageflakes has the look and feel of Netvibes, but with a cleaner interface. Other key features include the ability to share pages you have created with your family and friends without even them having to sign up.

Aside from receiving rave reviews, Pageflakes also managed to win a Web 2.0 award for “Best Start page” (beating out Google, Microsoft, and Netvibes).

If you’re not sure what RSS works, and how it can save you an immense amount of time, click here.
