A lot of fresh foods do not come with expiration dates.  Even packed foods with expiration dates have different shelf lives once opened and kept in the fridge.  So what’s the best way to track how long food should be kept around to eat? 

Try going to StillTasty and you’ll find all your answers there.  StillTasty is a free service which lets you drill down to different food types like meat, vegetables, and dairy and check out how long they can really last, as well as plenty of tips on how to keep food fresh.

It even breaks down expiration times by storage methods so you know how long food can last in a refrigerator or freezer.  Fried beef for example, would last 3-4 days in proper refrigeration :)
